Morning Edition on NPR ran a story this morning about Chinese sweatshop labor taking place in Nigeria. As globalization continues to emerge and become the norm of our society, sweatshop labor is becoming more prevalent in our world. And yet, as we live in the relatively affluent culture of the United States, the practices that surround sweatshop labor are present in nearly all the goods we buy. It is nearly impossible to avoid participating in the systemic problems that this form of labor creates.So how can we stay informed? What can we do to work against these types of labor practices?
