There Are No Words. . .

As we see and hear the news in Japan, we are overwhelmed with sadness . . . and truly at a loss for words to express the pain, confusion, and trauma that the Japanese people are experiencing today after devastating earthquakes, a cataclysmic tsunami, and ongoing anxiety concerning nuclear power reactors.

And in our loss for words, we are aware that we cannot truly wrap our minds around the suffering that people are experiencing on the ground in Japan. From this place, however, we offer our prayers and our solidarity. We offer our attention. We offer our hope.

We pray for the people of Japan and for others in the Pacific Rim today, for those who have lost loved ones, for those who are now homeless, for those who are deeply afraid, for those who are displaced, for those who do not know where to get their next meals, for those who cannot communicate their whereabouts.

Lord, hear our prayer. . .
