Thinking About E-Waste. . .

As many of you know, PPC L.I.F.T. (our Young Adult Ministry at PPC) is having an e-waste fundraiser on January 15th here in Pasadena. We are inviting businesses and individuals to bring e-waste to us so that we can dispose of it in a responsible way. We are working with a company that will give us money for our e-waste collection, and we will use that money to pay for the recent renovations to our Young Adult Room.

And this may raise some questions: What is e-waste, anyway? How can we dispose of our electronic goods in a way that is supportive for the environment and helpful for people?

Karen Lee, one of our young adults, works in areas of e-waste for the city of Rancho Cucamunga. She is spearheading our fundraiser on the 15th and has provided us with some information concerning e-waste.

Here is an article that asks a good question: After Dump, What Happens to Electronic Waste?

This website discusses how e-waste is handled and managed in California: Electronic Hazardous E-Waste.

We are working with a particular recycling organization for our event called One Stop Recycler. Please check out what they do, and learn about the mission at the One Stop Recycler website.
