Spotlight on Service: San Gabriel Habitat For Humanity!

At Pasadena Presbyterian Church, we aim to be a "sacred space for the city," and for that reason, we desire to learn about opportunities for service in Pasadena and to support and celebrate what non-profits, ministries, and charities are doing right in our midst.

And so. . . this week we honor San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity!

San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity has been a part of our local community since 1990 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, and with the help of many volunteers, the organization has built more than 50 homes and provided permanent affordable housing for more than 300 men, women, and children.

In 2011, San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity is launching its Geneva Campaign, which will provide five "green" homes on Geneva Street in Glendale. San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity also tithes on the unrestricted contributions it receives, and through giving, the organization has helped build more than 70 homes around the world. These days, tithed funds are designated for Habitat Homes in Nepal.

San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity is always in need of assistance from our community. They offer many opportunities to contribute to their mission. Here is a statement from their webpage:

"San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGVHFH) engages the community to volunteer time, talent, money and donated materials to build affordable housing. This builds stronger communities, better neighborhoods, stable families and relationships that will last for years to come. All areas of society — individuals, houses of worship, businesses and other agencies — can get involved. Habitat for Humanity is a catalyst for positive change in the San Gabriel Valley and we invite you to join us!"

San Gabriel Habitat Humanity also benefits from financial contributions. If you would like to learn more information about donating, you learn more on their webpage.
